Christmas Vacation Part 2

We did two more memorial things. One we had a dinner party with all of my old friends and the second one was go to the temple for some sealings.

Johan and I were invited by my friends to go to the Williams house to make dinner and have a small get together. Johan and I were in charge to bring Potatoes, Sour cream, and toppings for the salad. Driving there wasn't a problem until my brother (who was driving) decided to take a small car four wheeling. He had yelled about deer and I'm always a sucker of deer and seeing them. So he pulls off into a ditch to try to beam his lights into the forest that was to far away and over a small hill. It totally defeated the purpose of driving into the ditch since the hill blocked most if not all of the light. We will get back to this story later.

It was a lot of fun to interact with old friends and have them all meet Johan. We all brought a little bit to the kitchen. Sheila was the normal take charge of all the cooking and putting people to work, Pat was the comic relief, Andrew was the one that was always on a mission, Nick, Johan, Grant, and Brian were often the ones that would pick up anything that needed work. We made an amazing meal of Lemon Chicken with noodles, Garlic MashedPotatoes, Chef Salad, Egg rolls, and Buckeyed deserts.

We ended the night with a tour of Pat's new house and lots of old stories we had. I felt a little bad with Johan not knowing anyone, but quickly got over it. We overall had a really good time.

Now back to the story from above. The next day, dad came out and flipped out about the mud. Grant didn't think that there would be a lot because most of it was taken off while driving. There was tons of Oklahoman red dirt all on top of the hood and side. Grant had thought I told dad about the adventure. I assured him I didn't and that the evidence was everywhere on the car. We had a really good laugh about it later.

Our next great adventure was going to the Oklahoma City Temple. It was a great experience to do sealings for the first time (other than our own). It was a bit hectic trying to get organized to get going. We ended up getting a lot of them done. We even got to seal Makka's sister to her family. We felt the spirit really strongly at that moment and peace. It was amazing. We ended the temple day with lunch at Braums.

On Tuesday, Johan and I decided to go see a movie at the amazing theater in Moore. The Warren theater is a huge building with a restraunt inside and the lobby is two stories. It has two seating arrangements you can choose from: The Balcony (in the theater). The Regular seating. The movie's are all digital and an amazing quality. We had a really hard decision before us...What movie do we go see?! We decided on The Curious Case of Benjiman Button. It was a really good movie that made you realize how short life really is.

Soon, we were off toward the airport. As much as I love going to places I always enjoy coming back home. It was freezing in Utah compared to Oklahoma. Liz and I caught up in the car while Johan slept.

Christmas Part 1

Warning: Lots of Pictures on this post

Getting in Oklahoma was a challenge with all the bad weather. Our flight ended up being 3 hours late. It was a interesting trip. Once we got there we hit the floor flying with preparing for Christmas!

I still wasn't sure what to get Johan, but I decided to get the 3rd Eargon book and the Killers C.d. I got to see my niece and nephews that I haven't seen for awhile. They are growing up so fast. Tate is a little quiet, but has a lot of attitude. Kaiden cracks me up and his speech has improved a lot. (Now I can understand what he is saying.) The most change I saw was with Layne. She is sooo big. She was really shy to me, but eventually warmed up. It was cool to see Bridgette and Jimmy. I haven't seen them since the wedding in June. I didn't know I missed them so much until I saw them.

My work started when they all came in that morning of christmas eve. I ended up cutting Bridgette, Tate, Kaiden, and Laynes hair. Bridgette and Layne loved there haircuts!

After Bridgette and Jimmy left to go back home. Mom and Dad read the christmas story from Luke. Mom got a picture book for the grandkids and decided to let us join in. Mom would flip the pages of the picture book as Dad read from the Bible.

Our tradition is to open one present before christmas and it is usually PJ's. That is what we got this year too! I love how some traditions never die!

I was a little sad that this christmas wasn't filled with screaming and excited children. It did have some perks: We got to go to bed later and woke up on Christmas later. Johan ended up getting me a sketch pad!! It was super nice, but not as nice as the colored pencils he gave with the sketch pad. They came from Germany and are amazing. I just don't know what to draw yet. Parents gave Johan and I little gadgets. (I was given a bluetooth, and Johan a MP3 Player.)

Nothing else really to write about.

So I have nothing really to write about other than my sisters kids. I love my niece and nephew. They really do just the darnest things. Notice in this video that my nephew is wearing one of Lillian's dressup skirts. I know this is a old video, but ran across it just a second ago and needed to share it.

After

Before
Mason is cute with short hair, but I liked his really long shaggy hair.
After

I tortured a girl at school to let me work with an Updo.
I was trying for the grunge look. this was a backward french twist. It was harder than it looked. This girl had really long hair.

HAIR COLORS

Before
After

Breann wanted something different and crazy. We put a kicker in this purple/red color.
Liz put up with a lot of things. Thanks for doing this again. Trying to go for the Vitimin C look from the 90's.

Her hair now. It turned out darker than we were aiming for. Luckily, haircolor fades after a certain amount of time.
Cut and colored mom's. We put a purple pannel in the front, but it turned darker than wanted. Next time we will put a kicker.

Church Fiasco!!

So this is going to be a quick post about my embarrassing story. It started like any other day for church. I wore the skirt I bought for 2 dollars at Old Navy (black Friday sale). Some really tall new red heels. Which was a terrible idea since I can't really walk well in heels and it had just snowed. So here I was in this large skirt that was in need of silk G's so I didn't have to worry about a slip that might be showing during church.

I'm walking with Johan to church, running late and we were busy trying to make it in time.(Thankfully church is always running a little behind.) Then I feel this draft. I was like,

'Hmmmm..odd. Why is there a cold draft?'
I turn around and to my dismay my skirt is falling off my rump. Underwear and everything exposed walking to church. You would think, we were running late, and no one was around to see it. NO!!! a...big...fat...NO. There were at least 2 couples behind us. I just prayed with all my might that no one had seen what just went down. Luckily, Johan and I just laughed it off. Johan was very supportive about it and kept telling me not to worry.

After sacrament meeting I went home and changed into a more secure skirt.

My conclusion: I'll just wait to wear my loose skirt when I'm pregnant. Until then..I'll make sure to either secure it to my underwear or to pay more attention to cold drafts.

One of my favorites poems

The Night Before Christmas
By Clement Clarke Moore

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap, Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.More rapid than eagles his coursers they came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now, PRANCER and VIXEN! On, COMET! on CUPID! on, DONNER and BLITZEN!To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall! Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,So up to the house-top the coursers they flew, With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.As I drew in my hand, and was turning around, Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot, And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;A bundle of toys he had flung on his back, And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath; He had a broad face and a little round belly, That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,And laying his finger aside of his nose, And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,"HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!"

'Tis the Season

So we are trying our best to decorate for the season, but with so little time (and Money) we just don't quite have it. We have Liz's countdown to Christmas and Mel's 'Believe' cute boxes. I just wish we had more time to decorate. Luckily it isn't such a big deal because Johan and I are going to be leaving to Oklahoma on the 23 for Christmas to spend with Dad and Mom. I'm super excited about seeing the 'Rents and friends again. Gotta love the holidays!!

Thanksgiving

The drive to Washington was a great experience for all. Johan and I had a bunch of fun. I have never been to Washington before. My first impression of Washington was that it was dark and that it was raining. Many times I thought our carpool was going to die. Luckily, we made it and had plenty of snacks to distract ourselves.
Thanksgiving was a flurry of movement. We all chipped in to help cook or clean. It was funny, because we didn't end up eating turkey till the very end of the meal. Most of us were already full by the time for the turkey. Everything did taste amazing. We played Apples to Apples till around 11p.m. Then off to Paul's and Mel's house.

We did a little Black Friday shopping and then on Saturday we all meet up in Seattle. We ate at a pretty good Mexican place in Seattle. Johan and I found a cool park of lights while we waited to be seated at the restraunt.

On Sunday we left to get back home. Washington was fun to see family, but it makes you appreciate coming back to your own bed.
